Transit Agencies with RiderNet for Wi-Fi Access on their Buses Draw Riders and Increase Productivity
Columbia, MD, March 25, 2009 – Eurotech today announces that its RiderNet Wi-Fi access service reached a count of more than 1 million user sessions, just 17 months since its introduction to the transit market. Agencies using the RiderNet service allow their riders to access the Internet at any time during their trip, whether they're students heading to the library, employees going across the corporate campus to meetings or commuters traveling between home and office.
RiderNet consists of an on-board rugged vehicle access point, the unlimited Wi-Fi data service, full Wi-Fi support, complete management and reporting. The service allows passengers to log onto the Wi-Fi service and go online to check email, surf the Internet, and even tunnel into their corporate networks through virtual private network technology. RiderNet Wi-Fi for bus and coach fleets is currently available in 28 states and one province in Canada.
More than 1 million users have accessed the Internet while commuting using the RiderNet service from Eurotech Customers include transit agencies like Monterey-Salinas Transit, Santa-Cruz Metro, Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA), Hampton Roads Transit, and Capital Metro Transit Authority. Several Fortune 500 companies also are offering commuter service with RiderNet-enabled bus fleets.
