Eurotech promotes the development of ETH lab, the Group's research centre

Trento, January 23, 2006

Eurotech S.p.A announced today, at a press conference organized by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the start of a plan for the development of the Group's research centre ETH Lab in the Trento area. In accordance with this plan, Eurotech signed a co-operation agreement with the University of Trento and with the ITC-IRST for joint research in the field of pervasive and ubiquitous computing. The agreement focuses on micro- and nano-electronics applied to the realization of advanced sensors and sensor networks. It also concerns informatics applied to environmental data analysis, data transmission and dynamic management of mobile device networks (with a GRID-oriented approach).

Says Giampietro Tecchiolli, CTO of Eurotech and President of ETH Lab: "For the Eurotech Group, the development of the ETH Lab means more research in advanced fields, performed using state-of-the-art technologies".

The ETH Lab research centre will support innovative projects and create the right premises for the training of young researchers, who will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, while being in close contact with the world of the industry.

Says Roberto Siagri, President of Eurotech: "Eurotech selected Trento as the right place to develop its ETH Lab activities for two reasons: the presence in this area of top level research institutes like the University of Trento and the ITC-IRST, and local policies attentive to innovation and capable of promoting co-operation between the public research system and private companies".
