Arcom launches ready-to-run Windows CE 4.2 development kit for Intel XScale™ based single board computer

supporting its Intel PXA255 XScale based single board computer. The VIPER board is an ultra low power PC/104 single board computer using the 400MHz Intel PXA255
XScale application processor (ARM v.5TE compliant). Arcom's market leading development kits are designed to save significant development and BSP integration time by
offering a true ready-to-run platform for its industrial single board computers.
The Development Kit includes a VIPER SBC with a pre-installed operating system image as well as the Microsoft eMbedded Visual tools to allow you to start building an application from day one.
Windows CE .NET is now one of the most popular embedded operating systems for integration into instrumentation displays, machine controllers and kiosk/gaming machine products. The combination of rich communications and GUI features along with an aggressive license cost policy make it a compelling choice for equipment manufacturers.
This comprehensive Development Kit includes the 400MHz PXA255 based VIPER single board computer fitted with 64Mbytes DRAM, 16 (or 32Mbytes) of Flash, VIPER ICE (Industrial Compact Enclosure) development box, the VIPER-UPS (uninterruptible power supply), serial and Ethernet cable set, a Q-VGA color display and touchscreen, and a comprehensive Quickstart manual.
The VIPER is a PC/104 form factor (3.6" x 3.8") embedded processor board based on the 400MHz Intel PXA255 XScale RISC processor (ARM v.5TE compliant). The VIPER includes an extensive range of onboard peripherals including a flat panel display controller for TFT and STN displays, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, 5 serial ports, CompactFlash socket for hot swap memory and wireless cards and I/O expansion using the PC/104 bus.
