Graphic Designer / Web Developer
Description:
Eurotech in Columbia, MD is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer / Web Developer to deliver professional and engaging designs for marketing programs to strengthen Eurotech's industry leadership position. Eurotech is a global company, with a strong and growing market position in the embedded computing industry. We architect the sophisticated underlying technology that enables our customers to bring their products and services to market quickly to increase their success. Objective:
The Graphic Designer / Web Developer is responsible for conceiving, creating, and delivering high quality marketing materials, through print, digital and online media, to meet the requirements of an active marketing department. The Graphic Designer / Web Developer is also responsible for creating and editing web pages, as well as the design of graphics that support corporate branding and integrated marketing programs worldwide. An understanding of distribution of materials and links through social media and building awareness online is also required. A familiarity with search engine optimization and social media programs is strongly preferred.
Specific Essential Functions:
Graphic Design
- Conceive and create impactful and appropriate graphic designs and images that support branding of the parent company as well as messaging for the North American subsidiary of Eurotech.
- Apply knowledge of design principles to produce effective, attractive and relevant materials that fit within the corporate culture and follow corporate guidelines. Provide feedback and suggestions regarding corporate guidelines to improve usability and effectiveness.
- Regularly interface with product management, development, and marketing communications staff and other outside vendors as needed to deliver effective projects
- Has a comprehensive knowledge of the printing processes (offset, digital and press)
- Strong experience with Adobe Creative Suite; expert proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other graphics programs
- Responsible for submitting approved ad materials (print and online) to media outlets to meet submission deadlines
- Familiarity with video creation is preferred
Web Development
- Perform maintenance of website, following corporate guidelines and direction
- Optimize web pages for search engine marketing, work with marketing communications team to include appropriate material and links to increase SEO ranking
- Develop social media programs to increase brand awareness and build community around brand
- Advanced knowledge of standards-based XHTML and CSS coding (not WYSIWIG)
- Knowledge of programming languages including ASP and XML.
- Experience with both Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with web-based software applications.
- Work with Apache and Microsoft IIS web servers. Interact with servers using FTP, Telnet, and SSH protocols.
- Ability to use animation programs (Flash, After Effects, etc.) and work with video files a plus
General
- Demonstrate strong advertising & brand background, solid typography skills, and exceptional design aesthetic with portfolio
- Have the ability to respond quickly on assigned projects as necessary.
- Possess strong time & project management skills; ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Have an understanding of how design and web portion of marketing programs fit into larger marketing campaigns, and the ability to deliver those portions to support larger campaigns
- Maintain the highest level of attention to detail in all projects
- Manage special projects as required by manager
Knowledge, Skill, And Experience Requirements
- 4 - 8 years of design experience in B2B environment
- Possess strong organizational skills, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Must be highly organized, a team player, and able to work independently yet take direction, with detail and results orientation
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office) required in addition to graphics and web applications
- Above average written and verbal communication skills
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or relevant field with training in the design field
Field Application Engineer - Western Region
Description:
Eurotech Inc. is the face of the Eurotech Group in North America, with headquarters in Maryland and multiple offices throughout the United States. This stable, growing embedded computer and systems company is looking for an experienced Field Application Engineer (FAE) to provide pre-sales technical support in the Western United States and Canada. Eurotech designs, develops, and delivers single board computers (SBCs), computer on module (COM), and packaged systems to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) whose requirements include low power computing, wireless communications, software portability, reliability and durability for medical, industrial, transportation and similar vertical markets. Eurotech's expertise as a leader in embedded computer design with a particular focus on power-saving engineering and value-added software enables customers to bring their products to market quickly, with reduced development time, cost, and proven technology implementations.
Responsibilities:
The Field Application Engineer (FAE) is directly responsible for helping to grow sales revenue by providing pre- and post-sales technical support to OEM customers. Your primary focus will be assisting customers during product evaluation, development, and integration. As the primary technical contact in the region, you will rely on your own experience to respond to customers' technical inquiries while also marshaling the appropriate technical resources within the factory to provide quick and detailed feedback to the customer. You must be highly motivated to provide excellent service and highly organized to ensure timely and accurate feedback. This customer-facing role requires extensive travel within the region for in-person meetings as well as email and telephone support. An excellent understanding of architectural design, hardware and software functionality, and trouble-shooting hardware and software problems are all required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Regional Sales Manager for the region to prioritize customer accounts and technical support activities.
- Understand customers' product requirements, evaluation criteria, and integration goals.
- Help position Eurotech products and services against those of our competitors; stay abreast of competitive offerings and help specify and in some cases conduct benchmarking activities.
- Respond in a timely and detailed manner to customers' technical inquiries.
- Work directly with customers to integrate our products into their systems; identify, replicate, and help debug hardware and software problems.
- Interact with Sales, Customer Support, and Engineering to respond to customer inquiries.
- Travel from 40%-50% of the time may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Product development experience with some degree of familiarity with the following:
- o Hardware: ARM and/or Intel X86 architectures, BIOS, power management, touch panel integration, battery management, LAN, WAN, wireless and cellular communications, power supplies, microcontroller development.
- Software: operating systems (Linux and Windows CE, XP/XP Embedded, Embedded Standard), languages (C, C++, C#, Java) tools (Microsoft Visual Studio, Linux tool chains), and Win32 APIs.
- At least 7 years experience as an FAE or similar customer-facing engineering role.
- Strong oral and written skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Productive with little to no supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years experience in a Field Applications Engineer or similar customer-facing role. Hardware design engineers or architects will be considered even customer-facing experience, but extensive experience in the Eurotech's product markets and architectures will be critical.
- Hands on hardware or software development experience.
- Embedded computer industry experience.
- Able to sufficiently understand and communicate technical embedded computer requirements.
- Willingness to travel.

Windows CE Software Engineer
Description:
We are seeking a Windows CE Software Engineer with broad experience in real-time embedded systems & Windows CE to join our CE development team. This engineer will help analyze and define system/software development & integration. This Windows CE SW Engineer will also be responsible for integrating OS and embedded single board computers. This position will be based out of our Columbia, Maryland office.
Requirements:
- Programming experience with Windows CE, VxWorks, Linux, or other embedded OS
- Writing low level device drivers, kernel or bootloaders
- 3+ yrs embedded experience plus a minimum of 3+ years other general experience
- Experience designing/architecting complex systems
- Full SW product lifecycle
- C/C++ and Win32 helpful
Qualifications:
- Create conceptual and technical design documents
- Create test plans to design specifications & certify enhancements meet requirements
- Must speak English
- Strong communication skills
- Work equally well on team projects or independently
Education
- BSEE or BSCS preferred but will consider other degrees; Masters a plus
