Transportation Industry
Trucks, buses and trains all make heavy demands on their embedded systems,
as do the systems that support them. Systems may be stored outside in a North Dakota winter or Las Vegas summer, and then must spring to action. Vibration can be extreme. Complex interfaces are required, and often geolocation and mapping is required to monitor movement. Finally, these systems need long lifetimes in the market and must not be rendered obsolete by component EOL (End-Of-Life).
Eurotech has met these challenges for thousands of pieces of equipment from dozens of suppliers.
8D Pay and Go Parking Kiosk
|
|
8D created Cloud 9, a powerful Java-based operating environment that simplifies system testing and reprogramming, and 8D ECO, a compact integrated unit that can be embedded in any remote device. After realizing the low power demand and rich I/O parameters needed for their application, 8D decided to proceed with a RISC-based platform. Intel's low-powered RISC-based processors and a large reserve battery enable the parking kiosk stations to run on solar power, separate from both electrical and telephone grids. Read more. |
CADEC Truck Computer

Coincard Fare Collection
|
|
Coincard's intelligent automated fare system has been specifically designed for the rugged transit
environment. The flexible system accepts different formats including a variety of pre-paid "token cards," and time duration passes which
activate on first insertion. See how this Fare Collection system was designed. |
Microvision's "Nomad" - Innovative Head-up Display
 |
The Nomad® Expert Technician System is the world's only wireless wearable computer with a
head-worn, head-up display. With a unique "connect and work" capability, the Nomad System allows automotive service technicians
to superimpose text and diagrams from electronic service manuals directly over their workspace at the point of task, hands free.

Rosario Bus S.A. developed an integrated system for their bus transport system. This system
links computers on the bus with real-time scheduling and operations, as well as route planning, driver training and customer satisfaction
tracking systems.
Working with Eurotech, Rosario has managed to lower cost and improve performance throughout its system. Read more. |
Vehicle to Grid power
 |
Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) control and regulation
presents a mechanism to meet key requirements of the electric
power system, using electric vehicles when they are parked and
underutilized. Eurotech supported
the University of Delaware with a Viper SBC for this important
project.
